How to Read EXIF Data

Method 1: Check EXIF on Windows

Windows has a built-in feature to view basic EXIF data. It’s quick and easy for a brief overview of your photo's information.

1. Find the image file on your computer.
2. Right-click on the image file and select "Properties" from the context menu.
3. In the Properties window, click on the "Details" tab.
4. Here you can scroll through information like camera model, F-stop, exposure time, ISO, and date taken.

Limitation: This method is convenient but often doesn't show all the available data, especially detailed GPS coordinates or lens information. The presentation is also very basic.

Method 2: Check EXIF on macOS

macOS also provides a native tool to inspect photo metadata through its Preview application.

1. Double-click the image to open it in the Preview app.
2. In the top menu bar, click on "Tools" and then select "Show Inspector" (or use the shortcut ⌘ + I).
3. In the Inspector window, click on the tab with an "i" icon (More Info).
4. You will find different sub-tabs like "General", "EXIF", and "GPS" where the details are organized.

Limitation: Similar to Windows, the macOS inspector is useful for a quick look but may not display every single piece of metadata. For a comprehensive view, a dedicated tool is better.
